Oct 24, Morrigan rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well-written and portrayed. The book has a hint of weirdness that makes the book even more entertaining and compelling. This is a very good, quick read and I recommend this book. I will definitely read more of these authors books.
The prose is very simple, although the plot is a bit convoluted. For the better. Really good book. Want a racey book that just hums along in the form of an old fashioned sex farce? Not a prude or scared of some visually naughty stuff?
You will like this. If not, best to skip this book. This disfunctional family is totally "loco" but what family isn't? Even the cat has issues. I have read several Roncagliolo books now and his sex farces are always fun. This book was a challenge to track down but clocks in as a "quick, light read. Read in Spanish. Grate book for someone who is looking for something different and to have a lot to think of.
I could not get bored with this story, everything is possibly real, although we never really think of it. Jun 17, Amanda rated it liked it. Predictable with a few unique twists. I enjoyed the flow of the book but it felt like a mix of movies I had seen before. Well intended, entertaining and still worth the light reading.

His previous two books, the novel El principe de los caimanes and the collection of short stories Crecer es un oficio triste , have received good critical attention in Spain, where the author has resided since the late s. His latest novel, Pudor, is the story of a young, middle-class Peruvian family and its domestic trials and tribulations. Alfredo Ramos is a man whose doctor has told him he has six months to live; moreover he unexpectedly finds himself in a troublesome affair with his secretary. His wife, Lucy, receives anonymous erotic messages from a secret admirer whom she tries to meet, only to be tragically disappointed.
Santiago Rafael Roncagliolo Lohmann born March 29, is a Peruvian writer, screenwriter, translator and journalist. He has written five novels about fear. He is also author of a trilogy of non-fiction books on Latin American twentieth century. Born in Lima , Peru , Santiago Roncagliolo spent part of his childhood in Mexico, where his family was exiled. As he says: "I grew up in a family of exiles. We went to school with shirts of the Sandinista National Liberation Front and played games of "popular war".
