This is a great expansion to the original Catan. My daughter age 11 and husband were very very excited to play and continue to be excited.

It is one of the few games that I too enjoy playing with my family. It is very much a strategy game, but also depends on the roll of the dice.

It is not a quick game, but not as long as other board games. Very fun! Fna - 1 year ago , Verified purchaser. Absolutely love Catan. Now have all expansions and currently working on playing each one. We have liked everyone of them so far including Seafarers. Great Twist on the Original 5 out of 5 stars.

UUHusker - 2 years ago. I got this expansion for Christmas this past year, after having played Catan for about a year. We don't get the opportunity to play Catan too often, so I wasn't burnt out on the original; but, I was still very excited to try this expansion. This expansion is a great twist on the original game. The game is different enough from the original to add excitement, but is still close enough that it is easy to learn. The addition of islands forces you to adjust from your normal Catan strategy.

The addition of the "Gold" resource is a game changer, as well. We have played this version with a number of friends, and we all seem to enjoy playing this more than the original. The only real negative I've found with the expansion, is that it is a true expansion.

By this, I mean that you must have both the normal Catan box and the expansion box if you are going to play. Having to pull out two full sized boxes to play is a bit of a hassle. Plus, it requires additional time during clean up, to ensure that all of the game pieces are going in the right box.

One example of how this became an issue for us: We took the expansion to our friend's house who has their own set of Catan. When we took the game to their house, we had to be careful to not get any of our game pieces mixed in with theirs. Additionally, we ran into an issue because one set of the ships ended up in our Catan box instead of the expansion box, so we were short one set of ships.

In the future, we will just have to make sure we bring our normal set and expansion if we are going to play at someone else's house. Ideally, it'd be great if we could get a box or case to store all of these pieces together. We might have to investigate and see if something like this exists online. Did you? James - 2 years ago , Verified purchaser. Although I haven't played the Pirates expansion, this is the easiest expansion to learn.

Lots of fun! Simple, yet awesomely fun changes! Happy - 2 years ago , Verified purchaser. GREAT game, price and service 5 out of 5 stars. Smith - 2 years ago , Verified purchaser. Our family loves this expansion pack. It allows several different options for new layouts of the game so no one gets bored with playing. You can make it simple for younger players or more challenging.

My 6 and 7 year old boys love it and have a good understanding of the concepts with this addition. This expansion has helped make Catan an all time family favorite. KTibbs - 2 years ago , Verified purchaser. Great product. But, your really here to hear about Target.

So, Ordered this item online the day after Christmas, in the evening with in store pickup. Since it was after the holiday I did have to go beyond my "home" Target to get that option. I picked it up first thing the next morning and the process couldn't have been easier! Pleasant experience with guest services, the cashier was helpful and speedy. Would totally order online for in store pick up again! Load 8 more.

CATAN® – Seafarers Expansion

Catan: Seafarers , or Seafarers of Catan in older editions, German : Die Seefahrer von Catan is an expansion of the board game The Settlers of Catan for three to four players five-to-six-player play is also possible with both of the respective five-to-six-player extensions. The main feature of this expansion is the addition of ships, gold rivers, and the pirate to the game, allowing play between multiple islands. The expansion also provides numerous scenarios, some of which have custom rules. The concepts introduced in Seafarers were part of designer Klaus Teuber 's original design for Settlers. Seafarers introduces the concept of ships, which serve as roads over water or along the coast. Each ship costs one lumber and one wool to create lumber for the hull and wool for the sails.
