Wash your hands and cover your head before studying the contents. Thus make my house-hold [mind], servants and followers [intellect and varied other organs]] rest in peace. Whatever boons I seek I should obtain from You. Liberate all my servants and followers [way of thinking], pick each and every one and destroy them, who are obstacles in my well being.

You are the Savior of the weak and Destroyer of tyrants. O the Lord of fourteen worlds according to Puranic conception. It is all the Play of the Temporal Lord. He alone was in the beginningand will also be at the end of the Time. He alone is my Guru. He has blessed His devotees with all merits and happiness and destroys enemies [inner dis-hormony] instantaneously. He casts His Graceful Glance on all from the meek ant to huge elephant and feel pleased. He understands what pains each of the hearts of the creatures and their innermost workings.

When He dissolves the creation, all the physical forms are merged back in Him. They utter Him as they can think, what He is.

He, however, lives Detached from all. This distinction the wise ones and the religious books know. He is the Primal Power, Blemishless, Beginningless and does not take birth. The fools claim boastfully about the knowledge of His secrets, which even Vedas do not know.

The limits of Your creation cannot be known, nor how in the beginning You wrought the Universes. You create the egg born, the sweat born, the earth born and the foetus born. He shows His miraculous deeds to all His creation of the Universe. He, the Primal Power, born of Himself is since the beginning of beginning. All the evil doers who arise in my mind , fight with them and destroy them there and then. The persons, who fall on Your Feet, You remove all their afflictions and maladies.

They remain protected at all times. All their enemies and sorrows are removed instantaneously. They are blessed with all the earthly and spiritual treasures, and no evil doer [deadly passions and sickly instinctual drives] can even touch their shadows. Whosoever meditates on Your Name, he overcomes his poverty, suffering and adversity. Protect me with Your Own Hands. Extend Your support to me wherever I be, and save me from the evil doers [evil thoughts and sins].

Kripaa kari ham par jagmaataa Granth karaa pooran subh raataa Kilbikh sakal deh ko hartaa Dusht dokhiyan ko chhai kartaa The Mother of the world has been kind towards me and I have completed the book this auspicious night; The Lord is the destroyer of all the sins of the body and all the malicious and wicked persons.

O God! Sinmrit Shaastra Bed sabhai bahu bhed kahai ham ek naa jaanyo Sri asipaan kripaa tumri kar mai na kahyo sabh tohe bakhaanyo The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours, but I do not agree with any of them.

O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace, what power can I have to write all this? Sagal duaar kau chhaad kai gahyo tuhaaro duaar Bahe gahe ki laaj as Gobind daas tuhaar O Lord! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Thy door. Thou has caught hold of my arm; I, Govind, am Thy serf, kindly take care of me and protect my honour.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I apologize for the mistake in the first comment. Its nor for any wishes of yours to be fullfilled, its about to know who you are, how you can detach yourself from society and attach yourself by your true identity, its not to protect you, its for to accept death first, here death means demolish your ego, attachments.

> Sri Chaupai Sahib English Translation

In Adi Granth, Gurbani is a sound which comes directly from the Supreme and the text is a written form of the same in worldly language and scripts. Sikh historical writings, unauthentic writings or apocryphal compositions written under the names of Sikh Gurus and other writings by Sikhs are not considered Gurbani and are referred to as Kachi Bani. Gurbani is composed of two words: 'Gur' and 'Bani'. Gur has multiple meanings depending on context. In Guru Granth Sahib, Gur is used for multiple meanings, as per context of hymn. The common use of Gur is either for wisdom and internal conscious mind referred to as Chitta or Antar Atma.
